Girls softball team finds its bats on the road

The Columbia Falls girls softball team had an up and down week on the road.

They lost to Polson last Tuesday 7-4, but bounced back to crush Class B Ronan 21-0 on Thursday. At the Belgrade tourney over the weekend, they went 0-2 in the first day, but evened the bill with a 14-0 thrashing of Hardin and a 4-3 win over Dillon. The girls are now 3-5 on the season.

Box scores weren’t available from the Belgrade tourney, though the one loss came at the hands of Belgrade, which remains undefeated on the season.

The girls found their bats against Ronan, racking up 13 hits in a game shortened to four innings because of the 10-run rule. Pitcher KJ Schweikert kept Ronan hitless.

Sydney Hovde had a home run against the Lady Maidens and knocked two dingers in the loss to Polson.

The Kats face Frenchtown on the road Thursday and then finally play at home Saturday in a doubleheader against Stevensville and Corvallis. The varsity start against Corvallis is 1 p.m. and Stevi is 5 p.m.
