Babe Ruth tourney this week

Glacier Babe Ruth is hosting the 2017 Montana Babe Ruth Tournament for all age groups, with 17 teams coming to play. The 13-year-old and 14-year-old teams will play mainly at the Sapa Johnsrud Field and the 15-year-olds will play in Whitefish at Memorial Field. Schedules are available online at the Glacier Babe Ruth website. Visit http://glacierbaberuth.org and click “State Tournament” on the menu.

Former Major League pitcher Steve Ontiveros will be throwing out the first pitch in the tournament opener at Memorial Field in Whitefish at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 13. Ontiveros played for the Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, and Boston Red Sox. In 2008, he was the pitching coach for the Chinese baseball team in the Beijing Olympics.
