Wildcats fall on the road in Whitefish, 60-45

A slow start helped doom the Wildcats basketball team on the road Thursday as Columbia Falls fell to the Bulldogs in Whitefish, 60-45.

The Wildcats fell behind 10-2 in the game’s opening minutes but cut the deficit to four in the second quarter before trailing 33-19 at the half. Columbia Falls played the Bulldogs nearly even in the second half, but could not cut into the deficit as Whitefish picked up the victory.

“I thought we played pretty well, but it kind of got away from us at the beginning of the game and at the end of the first half,” head coach Chris Finberg said. “Every time Whitefish had a chance to pull away, we battled and made it a competitive game. I never felt like we were really out of it.”

Drew Morgan led the Wildcat attack with 23 points while Danny Henjum and Dillon Shipp each added six.

The Cats will be at home Thursday as they host conference-leading Browning before traveling to Hamilton Saturday and hosting Ronan Tuesday.
